Apex Contracting Co. provides full service Residential and Commercial design. From start to finish I have the experience you need to get the final project you have dreamed of.
Creating a design that completely satisfies you is my number one goal! Beginning with an initial on-site consultation we can discuss your project goals and ideas face to face. I believe open communication is the only way to achieve 100% satisfaction and the final product shows this collaborative effort. During the consultation we will discuss local building codes, site limitations and potential scenarios to achieve your project goals. I will review the neighborhood, its surrounding buildings and your property. The consult typically takes about an hour. At the end of the consultation I will be able to provide you with my design fee per square foot as well as a rough timeline. Each project is as unique as the project goals so it is important to review each project in person on an individual basis.
After the consultation, I will field measure the existing house inside and out, if it is a remodel/addition. This is not necessary for new construction. I strongly encourage all property owners to get a Survey of the property. This is a legal plot of your land and its contents. Having this in hand at the start of any project enables me to explore all possible building options within the building codes.
Now the collaborative design work begins and your vision takes shape. Starting with floor plans, we will layout your project to get the flow and feel you’re looking for. The floor plans then become three dimensional and we begin the esthetic portion. I will post the model on the Google SketchUp 3D warehouse where you will be able to view it. This model can be updated as we make major changes and you can share this link with friends and family for their input or just as a show and tell.
Using both the model and the floor plans your project will become reality! After we have finalized the floor plans I will begin the structural plans. The structural plans will be used by the engineer to finalize loadings, beams and other calculations required for permitting. Working together with the engineer using the same CAD drawings we are able to layout the most cost effective design without any redundancies, equating to a cost savings to the owner.
Your final plan set will be plotted full size and stamped by the structural engineer. Included in your plan set will be all necessary sheets for permitting, including but not limited to: cover sheet, elevations, floor plans, foundation plans, framing plans, electrical, cross sections, site plans, height diagrams and impervious area calculations. The square foot fee includes all the work necessary to complete your project (excluding engineering fees). This means that you will not get any addition bills for any time spent on the project after you have paid your final invoice. I will be with you throughout the length of your project. I pride myself in customer service and believe that being your designer is more than making a set of buildable plans and getting a permit. It is a unique relationship that I get to share with you during an exciting time in your life.
